“Inter spinas is based on the book L’Espill (The Mirror) by Jaume Roig, a Valencian doctor who wrote this book in the fifteenth century. It is a misogynist book whose objective is to teach young men how women are in order to avoid the evils they cause, since, according to this book, women have been the cause of all the evils of humanity since the sin of Eve. The piece tries to capture the rage I felt when reading the book, not only because of the description of the characters but also because centuries after they were written many of those macho thoughts still remain. We still have some way to go.”
